Salam in the light of history

All the civilized nations in the world have since the history, being expressing their love and regard to others when they meet. They have devised various words and expressions to greet each other.
For instance they say Good morning, Good evening and Good night. Others use words like Ram Ram, Namastey, Bandagi, Jay Ram etc. Some people bow before others while others have different ways of expressions.

Arabs used to say “Hayakallah” (Allah May Give You Long Life) when they used to meet Each other. They also used to say “An_Amallaho bika aina” (Allah may give you satisfaction) or “An am Sabahan” (Have a nice morning).

In Sunan Abi Dawood Hazrat Imran Bin Hussain Razi Allaho_Taala-unho narrates that before Islam we use to greet each other by saying AnAmallaho bika aina( Allah may give you satisfaction) Or An am Sabahan ( Have a nice morning).

When we stepped into the light of Islam, from the darkness of ignorance we were forbidden to use these words and we were taught to say Assalamu-Ulaikam instead.

No one can think of a better expression for love, affection, kindness and well wishes than this.
Just concentrate on its meaning and characteristics for a while. This is a very comprehensive and good prayer for our loved ones. It says, “Allah may bless you with all kinds of blessings”.
Salam is an expression of love and affection for the juniors and respect and regard for the Elders. And above all it is the name of Allah Subhanau wa- Taalah.

In Quran Kareem This word has been used by Allah Subhanau wa- Taalah for the Prophets for expressing the regard bestowed to them.
